Creating brand networks using API’s

With all the major social networks / online services now having pretty strong API’s to access their users content, should we not start connecting all these assets into one place? For example if a client has a YouTube channel with all their video assets and a Flikr profile with all their photo assets, why start from scratch when creating thier online presence? Use the API’s provided by these sites to feed information from their existing social base.
This could work in reverse of course why not set up the network from scratch? Creating the profiles and channels and building the network from the ground up. This information could then be gathered in one location then fed out into their other network sites (MySpace, FaceBook..). You could then track the whole network using Googles Social Graph API.
For a basic example here is a feed from Pathe UK’s YouTube channel, this content could then be fed into another website.
